Yaakov Shwekey (also known simply as “Shwekey”) is an Orthodox Jewish singer. Shwekey is one of the most popular performers in the world of contemporary Hassidic popular music, a genre that, it’s name notwithstanding, includes a range of Orthodox Jewish musicians beyond the Hassidic community. His songs are generally in Hebrew, with some in English, Yiddish and Aramaic, and often draw on middle-eastern influences.
